Latest News from Geelong Cereal
With all new (really old) news theme!
G'day Cereal writers and readers!
Thanks so much for all of the amazing content you guys send in to keep GC thriving! In addition to some really cool new ideas and formats, you've been sending in some spectacular stories and poems and some of you have also been sending wicked photography to go with them, which is so enjoyable to receive.
Item 1: Radio Serials every Monday morning on Ian Campbell's Monday Front Page (with Darby and/or Georgia) on 94.7 the Pulse!
In case you somehow missed this, we have serials and stories from Geelong Cereal writers being read by Geelong Cereal writers and/or folks from the Pulse every Monday morning, on Monday Front Page (9-11am). What a spectacular opportunity for our writing community, as well as a great deal of fun.
Don't forget to tune in, and also comment on the stories here on GC, which usually appear on the same day. Congratulations to Martin Smith, Brett J Cole and JS Harman who have recently finished, or are in the process of, reading their serials on air, and a massive shoutout and thank you to Ian, Georgia, and everyone at the Pulse for the incredible show of support they've put behind our growing collection of community fiction and our writers and speakers.
You can listen to previous episodes here, and tune in this Monday for more!
Item 2: This just in – I have learnt how to create a poll! (I think).
If the following poll works, and it relates to you, please vote in it! If it doesn't relate to you, and you feel left out, please move on to the next item. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Item 2.1: Poll for people wishing to join our voice acting and reading team for radio broadcasts:
Interested voice actors and readers, which of these times would suit you to meet for a fortnightly recording session? (Around 2 hours)
Item 2.2: Poll for EVERYONE, regardless of level of interest in voice acting:
Please read our all new choose-your-own-adventure zine here and answer the following:
After reading Phoebe Hancox's new choose your own adventure zine, I choose to:
Item 3- Radio Stories
Do you have a story or serial you believe would be suitable for broadcast, and you would like it to be read on 94.7 the Pulse? Episodes of 1500-1800 words preferred; 1-4ish episodes.
If so, make yourself known!

Item 4- Halloween Microfiction and Poetry
Any poetry or microfiction below 500 words, received before Halloween, will be compiled into a mini-edition to be released on Halloween. Yes, that's a mini-micro edition. You heard it first on GC News. I, your effusive editor, may have mentioned that I have a particular love for the macabre, the creepy and the downright disturbing so I particularly look forward to seeing what little gems come in over the next week.

Item 5- Help Wanted
Thanks so much to you who pitched in with the Smooth Talkers preparation. In addition to some assorted admin- type jobs, I need someone/s to take on posting poetry and compiling poetry mailouts. Maybe people could rotate or share this role. GC has expanded dramatically, and is not a one-person job now! If I don't spend at least some of my time making money to pay my rent, I'll be posting your stories and poems from my car, with my laptop, which has less than an hour of battery life on account of its pretty lights and big noisy fans. That would be extremely inconvenient and one of you would probably have to plug in an extension cord through the window for me. I will of course dress like Cousin Eddie for the sake of authenticity, should this come to pass.
Take on this job, and you can even choose your own title! If it was me, I'd go with Viceroy of Verse. I suppose at the moment it is me, and I could have been using that as my alter-ego the entire time. Dang.
Item 6: Things to do this weekend

Friday night at 94.7 the Pulse:
This weekend Geelong hosts the annual Community Broadcasting Association of Australia Conference and we’re throwing a party! Join us for live entertainment, free food, refreshments, guided tours of the station and meet CBAA delegates! Everyone is welcome - we’ll see you there!
FRIDAY 23RD OCTOBER 5:30PM @ THE PULSE 68/70 Little Ryrie Street, Geelong

Queenscliffe Literary Festival Week 2:
Here's the program! I'll be checking a couple of things this weekend; might see you there!
I think thats it for now; I'm sure I'll think of something vitally important ten seconds after the mail goes out, like I always do.
