Currently, Geelong Cereal seeks volunteers to help with:

💻Editing and admin. I need an assistant to help with reading, minor editing, formatting, occasional feedback to emerging writers, and general admin tasks. Communications students, creative writing and editing students and anyone else with strong writing and editing skills are encouraged to get in touch. The tasks are fun and low intensity, and I look forward to adding a great reference to your CV!

🤜🤛Community outreach. There are some projects cooking at Geelong Cereal that require liasing with local organisations and businesses. I could use some help compiling a list of contacts, and composing and following up on correspondence. As Geelong Cereal is currently in re-boot mode, this is one of the bigger tasks currently required and I will be enourmously grateful to anyone who steps up to help with this.

🎈IT. I've got the basics covered, but my IT skills have limits. I like to learn how to DIY rather than handball IT problems to someone else, so this role requires someone with enough patience to frequently explain the same thing more than once 😅

🎭Arts coordinator. Geelong Cereal seeks to build a strong relationship with local arts groups and to feature stories about local art exhibitions, performances, artists, and initiatives as well as help design and implement some future collaborative projects between local visual and literary art communities. Whoever takes on this role will have a lot of scope to imagine and realise this aspect of the publication.

🎧ྀིListening Room coordinator. Toby, the creator of Geelong Cereal, is a local musician. He introduced a Listening Room, which is a great concept with plenty of potential. If someone wants to take this on, you'll have a great deal of scope to develop this aspect of the publication.

🎤Gig reviewers. I envision gig reviews as a great opportunity for experienced writers to contribute kick ass reviews and, if willing, offer occasional mentoring to emerging reviewers. Gig reviews are a fun way to encourage emerging writers to put down words, so if you're as mad for live music as I am, and you have a good grasp of the privacy, copyright and reputational requirements of reviewing and photographing live performances, please help me assemble a team!

If you are interested in helping with any of these roles, please get in touch at thegeelongcereal@gmail.com
