Geelong Cereal Live Event on the Pulse 94.7 FM- Register Now!
Good evening literature lovers, serial scribblers, microfiction maniacs, poetry partisans, flash-fiction fanciers, horror habitues, crime cognoscenti, and all other patrons of printed pursuits!
Geelong Cereal is very excited to announce that we've been invited back to the Pulse 94.7 FM – on this occasion, for an evening of live readings, nibbles and fun, as part of an upcoming Radiothon event!
Where and when?
Geelong Cereal writers will be commandeering the airwaves from 6-9pm on Friday 9 October, and you are invited to join in and read your story, poem, or an episode of your serial live on air!
(We will be invited to read in an orderly manner. There will be no actual commandeering – it is not 1990 and unfortunately, none of us is Christian Slater.)
Who's invited?
This event is open to all Geelong Cereal contributors, but slots are filling up quickly. If you want to participate, secure your place by getting in touch soon at
thegeelongcereal@gmail.com
I'm not a Geelong Cereal contributor, but I want to participate. Should I wear a clever disguise and sneak in to the studio?
Unfortunately, we change our secret handshake and password regularly, so that won't fly. Seriously though, joining Geelong Cereal is free, it takes seconds, and we don't ask you for anything more than an email address to send these exciting updates to! If you're new, send in the contribution you would like to read, ready to be published on Geelong Cereal. Don't forget to read the submission guidelines first.
Geelong Cereal is a 100% volunteer run community publication. It's FREE to read, FREE to subscribe to and FREE to submit work to for publication.
I would like to read a poem that was recently published in a Geelong Writers publication, so I can't publish it on Geelong Cereal. What can I do?
Geelong Cereal extends a warm welcome to Geelong Writers' poets to join us for this exciting event, even if your intended work can't be published on Geelong Cereal. Get in touch asap because, as I may have mentioned, places are limited!
What should I do next?
Please register your interest and advise what it is you wish to read as soon as possible, to secure your spot in the line-up. Stories from our microfiction editions will be given a significant portion of air-time.
September's upcoming Microfiction Edition will feature prominently.
Geelong Cereal's new microfiction edition is now open for submissions, with the suggested theme "When Nature Turns" in celebration of Spring. Interpret that however you like and send us any of the following by 11:59pm Saturday 12/9 to be included:
-Two sentence stories
-Two sentence serials
-Microfiction to 300 words
-An episode of a micro-serial
-Poetry
-Fifty word reviews
-For this edition only, we are accepting stories up to 500 words in a separate category
-Any other ways you creative fiends think up to send us your writing!
Check out our past editions here.
A huge shout out to Georgia Kostadinoff for facilitating this exciting event and inviting us along, Ian Campbell for having us on his show Monday Front Page, and everyone at the Pulse 94.7 FM for this fun and exciting opportunity to share our creative work, meet other Cereal members and local broadcasters, and support local radio!
Geelong Cereal enthusiastically supports and enjoys community radio, and we urge you to check out their program, tune in, and if you're in a position to, become a supporter!
That's all for now folks.
We now return you to your regular programming.
